Our Story

The first inaugural meeting of Bobagunte took place on April 17, 1997, at the then Gateway Hotel now renamed Equity Hotel. That meeting laid down the groundwork that granted us our Royal  Charter bu Alaiyeluwa Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR, JP, Ogbagba II, Awujale & Paramount Ruler if Ijebuland at the well attended Royal Blessing/Traditional Ceremony at the Heritage Hall, Afin Awujale on March 28, 1998. We were ably anchored by our Baba Egbe Omoba M.A, Abimbola – ChairmanTrio Commodities & format Vice Chairman defunct Midas Merchant Bank and out Iya Egbe, Late Chief (Mrs) Adesola Akinjide (Yeyeluwa of Ijebuland). We had 98 registered memeber at the ROyal Blessing/Traditional Ceremony and to the glory be to God, today we have  over 170 active members.

One would be living in a utopian state ti believe that a grouping such as ours would be bereft of challenges. We have had our fir share of challenges but there was one major one.

To the glory of God, Egbe Bobagunte (Okunrin) has been a non-political organisation and out members are sympathisers of various parties and this has in not way affected our personal relationship or the running of our Egbe. However, in Bobagunte we have an unwritten rule and this is simply “Omoeni ole se di bebereka fi ilekesi di Omoelomi”.

• To promote the social and economic development of members; among the people of Akile Ijebu and Nigeria in general.
• To sustain and promote the cherished cultural heritage of Akile Ijebu.
• To encourage understanding with other Egbe Ibile with similar objectives for the unity and progress of Akile Ijebu and the country as a whole.
• To contribute towards the development of Akile and engage in all other activities that will enable the Egbe to accomplish its objectives.
